Kingston Links

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

Someone wrote the following on our Facebook page & I thought I would share it here as well

“Played” at Kingston Links . Unscrupulous, shoddy or both. Won’t be back anytime…. Went there today, 2nd July. I had taken a day off work and was hoping to play 18 holes of golf. I expected the course to be wet, and with preferred lies, as it had been raining for the past day. What I didn’t expect was that the 9th tee was surrounded by water, and hence unplayable, the walk from the first green to the second tee was a lake (so had to walk on another fairway to get there), the 11th was inaccessible, as was the 12 to the 16th. So 10 holes were playable in all, and barely that. Didn’t stop the chap from the pro shop from taking $45 bucks from me for 18 holes, with no mention of anything!!! Boycotting this course, and will advise anyone else to do the same.”

Big week coming up

Stay tuned 🙂

Buggy stolen from Yarrambat

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Had a round of golf out at Yarrambat on Sunday with Justin, Matt & Trevor. It was fantastic day, weather was perfect, the course was in great nick, played some half decent golf. All of this was spoilt when my brand new buggy was stolen from out the front of the pro shop 🙁

Yarrambat on the 11th

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

We had a group of 6 head out to Yarrambat on Saturday morning. Neil, Shane, Trevor, Stan Matt & myself wandered on down, John had to pull out at the last minute after doing hsi back 🙁 Having watched the weather forcast all week I was pleasantly surprised when Saturday rolled around & the day turned out great 🙂 The course was in pretty good nick, a little wet under foot but still pretty good.

I had a half decent round coming in a pair of 47’s tieing with Matt for the low score.

Stan had the comment of the day. On the par 4 9th there is a small dam about 100 meters from the tee. Shane duffed his tee shot & finished in fromt of the dam. Stan said “Good idea to lay up before the water” Had me chuckling for the rest of the day 🙂

Great deals on rounds of golf

Monday, April 18th, 2011

I have just recently become aware of a couple of websites that offer great deals on rounds of golf (& other things). The first one is called Scoopon & the second one is called Cudo. We have bought a voucher to head on out to Mornington golf course next Tuesday from the Scoopon on website & I bought a voucher for a round of golf at the Novotel Forest Resort from Cudo. The Novotel voucher is for a round of golf for 2 people, a golf cart, a pack of 3 Titelist balls & a pot of beer each. All of this for $60 🙂

Our annual birthdays round :)

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

We are heading out to the Peninsula again for our birthdays round of golf. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what I’m talking about, a couple of members of Golfinmelbourne have their birthdays in early December. Each year we like to head to a new course & have a good day out. This year we are heading to Flinders. I’ve booked in for 2 groups with carts for Monday the 6th of December. First group is off at 10 followed by the second at 10.08. We have 4 people confirmed at the moment so if you are interested let me know via a comment or an email.

Looking forward to this round, it looks like a great course 🙂

La Trobe University Golf Day

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

La Trobe University annual golf day was held on the 20th of November out at Growling Frog Golf Course. The format for the day is Ambrose. We put a time together of Neil, Stuart, Ian & myself. It was a stinking hot day, 38 degress & muggy as hell. Thankfully we had carts because I don’t think would have been able to walk the 18 holes 🙁 We made a pretty good team, Ian & Stuart did the majoirty of the driving (we all had to use at least 3 drives each) but Neil & I pulled our weight from the fariways & on & around the greens. Neil sunk a clutch putt on our 18th hole 🙂 It turns out that it was the winning putt, we won the day on a count back 😀

Yarrambat on the 16th of August

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

First round of the Epping RSL Championships & the conditions couldn’t have been any worse. For anyone living in Melbourne you would be well aware of the crappy day that we had. There was a gale blowing all day & the rain only let up for a couple of holes. They were the worse conditions that I have every played in 🙁

Having said all of that there was a 8 groups teeing it up. Neil was on fire shooting a net 68 to take a 6 shot lead into the second round in Whittlesea in a couple of weeks. For the record I shot a net 77 which I was quite happy with 🙂 The lessons seem to be paying off for Neil & to a lesser extent myself.
