9 holes at Bundoora

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Neil, Matt & myself headed out to Bundoora for 9 holes. It was Neil’s first hit out since his op on his knee so he wanted to take it a little easy.  The course was in pretty good nick with both the greens & the fairways in pretty good condition. It was Matt’s first time out with us so I’m hoping he doesn’t run away & never come back. It was my first hit for a while as well so Matt probably thinking “These guys are friggin hopeless “ 🙂

Great deals on rounds of golf

Monday, April 18th, 2011

I have just recently become aware of a couple of websites that offer great deals on rounds of golf (& other things). The first one is called Scoopon & the second one is called Cudo. We have bought a voucher to head on out to Mornington golf course next Tuesday from the Scoopon on website & I bought a voucher for a round of golf at the Novotel Forest Resort from Cudo. The Novotel voucher is for a round of golf for 2 people, a golf cart, a pack of 3 Titelist balls & a pot of beer each. All of this for $60 🙂

University Golf Day

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

We went out trying to back up last years win. Me Neil Trevor & Ian headed out to the Growling Frog hoping to replicate last years feats. The day didn’t start well when we bogied the easy par 4 1st 🙁 From there we scrambeled well but couldn’t buy a birdie. The day was fantastic, blue skies with a few clouds floating about. The course was in great condition, the fairways & greens were top notch. Once you got off the fairway things got a little dicey. The was a first cut of rough which wasn’t too bad but beyond that you were in the shit. The rough was knee high in some places & finding your ball was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

In the end we could back up & cam in a credible 3rd, even with the card off the stick.

It’s a bit cold out

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Haven’t had a hit in a couple of weeks, it’s been too cold. I’m hoping the weather will clear up just a little over the next couple of weekends because I’m hanging to get back out again.

9 holes at Bundoora

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Popped out to Bundoora after work on Friday & played the 9. I haven’t been out here for a couple of years & I was pleasantly surprised. The fairways are fantastic, the last time I was out here the were awful which is why it has been so long since a visit.

Aftyer playing the front 9 I’m keen to get back out there & see if the back is just as good 🙂

Here is a really good article over at Aussie Golfer. I think it sums up Australians attitudes to golf & our golfers pretty well. Check it out here

Round 3 of the Championships at Heathcote

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

The third & final round of the RSL Club Champioships was on Sunday out at Heathcote. We finally got decent weather with a perfect day for golf. It didn’t start too well for one of the guys in my playing group, he had a fresh airy followed by a squirter. It didn’t get any better with his next couple of shots, hitting the toilets then going out of bounds. I couldn’t get anything at all going on the day with way to many 7’s on my card. On the last hole I put 2 balls out of bounds to finish with a 10 🙁 Neil bounched back from his last outing shocker to shoot the best net score for B grade but couldn’t real in the eventual winner Jan. Congratulations Jane 🙂

Whittlesea on the 20th of July

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

I had an RDO on Monday & got a knock on my door at 12 o’clock. It was Stuart asking if I was up for 9 holes of golf. Of course I had to consider my options, play golf or mow the lawns. This may shock you but I choose to play golf 🙂 As with Sunday the wind was up a bit but no where near as bad. This was the first time I had been up to Whittlesea since thier clubhouse burnt down. You will be happy to know the course is still open & they have a couple of portables set up to use as a temporary clubhouse.

They are still badley in need of water at Whittlesea but thankfully there appears to be a tiny bit more in the dams than the last time I played here. The big dam which plays a main part in the par 5 4th is still pretty much dry, there is a small amoutn of water collecting at one end but not enough to be in play. The fairways are still dry but no worse than they normally are up here. The greens were in great condition. As I mentioned we only played the front 9 but from what we played, Whittlesea is good condition considering everything that has happened here in the last 6 months.
